Several months ago, Roger Chandler brought in a new piece of work. Roger is one of our wood turners, and his new work was a bowl made of red maple in a calabash style (I just learned that the Hawaiian calabash form has been highly prized over the centuries, especially by Polynesian Royalty). But, to get back to Roger's new bowl: it was lovely and so tactile! And it won two honors on the same day. First, it was selected by the World of Woodturners as their cover photo of the day. Secondly, it won the AAW Member Turning of the Week!
