Phil Adams
Raised in Greenville, SC, Phil Adams discovered a lifelong connection to art, music, and craftsmanship early on. After earning a BA in English from Mars Hill College, where he met his wife, Lynn, Phil's journey took him throughout the Carolinas before settling in Harrisonburg, VA, in 1981.
A career in the building supply industry sparked Phil’s appreciation for wood, leading to hobbies in woodworking and eventually an obsession with woodturning after retiring in 2016. He draws inspiration from domestic and exotic hardwoods, shaping pieces that showcase unique grains and patterns while blending functionality and artistry.
For Phil, woodturning is both creative and meditative, from the hum of tools to the aroma of sawdust. Guided by mentors like Dennis Hippen at OASIS and the Central Virginia Woodturners club, he continually hones his craft. Phil takes great joy in sharing his work with those who appreciate the natural beauty and artistry of wood.
